Over a year ago, I posted a turn-around for a woman called Zoltara. She’s inspired by the character played by one of my friends in an Exalted game. I changed her around a bit to make her fit better for the universe and turn her into a portfolio piece. I just finished a new piece with her (hiding and spying, it seems that’s what Night Castes do.) And I discovered that I never posted her completed character sheet. So here they are.
These are a few concepts for a building. It’s a secret tower located in a remote mountainy area and it’s at the junction of several lay lines of energy. The bottom levels are mundane installations that allow a small group of people to live there and the last levels comprise a library and the hearth, where the magic essence is concentrated.
It’s called the Manse of the Lazy Bend due to the lazy river flowing next to it, bending and snaking its way around the spectacular rock formations of the area.
Here’s a new concept I did. It’s based on a character of one of my players in the Exalted game I run. Photoshop.
I recently started storytelling a game of Exalted for my boyfriend and some friends. In case some of you don’t know, Exalted is a tabletop role-playing game based on White Wolf’s storyteller system, just like Vampire: the Masquerade or Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Exalted is inspired by a lot of anime movies like Mononoke Hime or Ninja Scroll with a healthy mix of wire-fu movies and shinto philosophy. The gameplay is epic and the setting is monumental but the maps are somewhat crappy. That is probably on purpose to allow the storytellers to fit in a lot of their own stuff in between everything that is cannon. That’s how I started noodling with maps of the north, and going in more and more detailed, and I ended up just making up this topographical map out of frustration with the inaccuracy of regular maps with their sideways mountains and it turns out it was a lot of fun. Creating a terrain that makes sense with rivers that go in appropriate directions and placing fields in the right places is a good challenge.
I thought it might be useful to Exalted players and storytellers so here it is.
